New Art

I'm excited. I've been playing with a new technique that a student in Portugal told my group about and it's freakin awesome. Here are the results that I've just put in my shop. It's basically monoprinting with wax pastel instead of ink. I love monoprinting but this is less fuss and I can do it on my dining table without the worry of losing my rental desposit after having spilt oil-based ink on the carpet...

The original drawing was of a chandelier in the hotel in Porto and I've used it to make these three unique prints. I drew the chandelier blind (which I love doing) and I rather liked it. What do you think?

I think I am well jell...I love monoprinting AND blind drawing, it's so loose and quirky.
Nice work

They look fantastic! I love monoprinting but i'd never heard of using wax pastels, i'm going to have to give it a go. Drawing blinds always fun isn't it, and using a continuous line can also give great results. You're inspiring me to get drawing again, I really don't do enough of it.

Hi Anna - I have missed you so!
I absolutely love the new drawings - I must order some for art & light. What do you think?
Do some others in this style - my customers love you and I do too!

Well Suzie, it's very simple - you scribble wax pastel on a sheet of plastic (something thicker than a carrier bag) and place it face down onto your paper. I then use a pencil (but you could use a fingernail, or anything hard) to draw my design onto the back of the plastic and once you remove the plastic from the paper, the wax has transferred. Easy!
