Museum of....

It feels like forever since I last posted, I'm having a bit of dry spell inspiration-wise. I've been round all the local charity shops in the last week, been to yard sales and Open Studios, a huge antiques centre and some lovely shops in the hope of giving myself a kick-start....

... and still nothing! I have picked up some great things in the process though. I'm absolutely in love with the little antelope at the top (which I think is made of ivory, but is old so I don't know if I should feel guilty about it or not?) and the carved resin walking stick section really floats my boat too.

I've got a uni project to get stuck into but I just can't decide what to do. Perhaps dear reader you can help?

We have to make a collection or "museum" of objects to catalogue and be obsessive about but since I already collect lots of stuff it's hard to decide what to do! I was wondering if I could make a museum of turquoise as I have lots of mid-20th century turquoise bits and pieces (including my new typewriter!), but does that seem a bit lame? I really fancy the idea of lots of small things that one could get hold of for free (or cheap anyway) but that still have some interest to them. Oh, I just don't know... any ideas?

So jealous of the turquoise bits, especially the typewriter. xoxo

I love your idea for a museum collection. you'll do best catalogueing what you love and it will be a challenge and unique project to do it with found items...
beautiful photos by the way!!

I want to still be at uni doing projects...sniff. How lovely. I'm sure you'll do something truly you. And their are endless things non?
Meanwhile I am currently cataloguing my discarded hairbands as I find them on my bedside table in the morning as they look like little squiggles of handwriting.
Obsessive enough?

Meanwhile check out this gem, I spotted it earlier

hello Anna dear,

well, i think the museum of turquoise has some mileage perhaps more so than the small objects which is a good idea as well (but a bit more obvious). perhaps you should ask for contributions of turquoise from us readers?! large or small - that could be fun!

and the antelope is darling. love.

i like the idea of a collection of your turquoise objects as a representation of the kind of things people collect and obsess over everyday...
the kind of stuff that doesn't always have historical value or belong to a particular design aesthetic... like a button or tea cup collection...
anyway, good luck... :)

Thanks you lovely lot! What helpful comments, perhaps I will stick with turquoise after all. I think you're right Emma, the fact that turquoise can span across styles and uses might be really nice. I just need to think how to display the objects, can you imagine a whole empty room full of turquoise things? Or a huge white dresser full of turquoise??? Yum.

Turquoise is nice...
but what about paper? You seem to have so many interesting bits of paper to work into your collages. It'd be a bit off-beat, but it might be fun to explore...

What a fantastic idea! The colour turquoise is a real winner. I can't take my eyes off that typewriter.

Hey Anna

Your days sounds lovely. Thrift shops, museums....yumm:D

Sometimes I also feel so lost and I have to switch of the computer and focus on my own creativity and feelings. It's so easy to be overwhelmed by other peoples work.

Good luck with your Uni Project. I had a similar one recently done.....
You sound like you are on a god track. Finding a red thread in something that's meaningful for you.....

Have a great weekend sweet!
